Freedom

I am released from the dissertation dungeon...

It's not humane that we need to finish the dissertation during the Edinburgh International Festival. The whole city is full of fascinating performances and excited tourists. Performances are everywhere. It's really fun just to walk on the streets. Everyone is happy except the MSc students. I don't have any free time to go for shows because of the stress. The places I went to are the library and the computer lab. It's like two different worlds in Edinburgh city. Heaven for tourists and hell for MSc students in August. Still, I joined the Edinburgh Cavalcade, and went to the Tattoo, Chess, ChinaChina and bowling this months because of friends' invitations and free tickets. I am glad that I didn't secrifice these activities because my dissertation.

I'm so happy that I submitted the dissertation today~~~ I went to an exhibition of children's illustration today. The title is 'We Are All Born Free'. I went for the title, ha! The festival is going to finish. I hope I can catch up some activities tomorrow.

海運

今天七海來收海運了
寄海運, 似乎代表這邊生活即將結束
可是我總覺得我才剛從台灣回到英國
我最近在台灣買的書, 還在送往英國的途中
另外八月中還有朋友幫我從台灣帶補給品過來
真是奇妙的心情
昨天裝箱時實在沒什麼東西好寄回家
在這最重要的就是書
這個月來在趕論文, 所有書都要留下
最後我寄了一個大箱, 硬是把一些衣服, 鞋子, 睡袋和玩偶寄回去

來收件的七海工作人員說他還記得去年來同樣的地址收件
今年年底, 大概又得拜託他了 (希望順利阿!)

剛剛在BBC 2看到一個中國美食節目 Chinese food made easy
今天介紹如何簡單作獅子頭, 炒牛肉佐鮮蔬和兒童食譜 for busy mom (蔬菜wrap和烤雞腿)
都是既簡單(他作起來很簡單)又健康的做法
她用的基本佐料就是紹新酒, 蔬菜油, 芝麻油, 白胡椒, 薑, 蔥和大蒜

更妙的是 主持人是在台灣長大的喔
她三不五時就會提一下
對用英國食材來做中國菜很有幫助唷

City of Festival

Edinburgh is a city with loads of festivals. During the festival season, there was Film Festival in June, and many festivals are held just now. There are just too many activities in the city, I am not sure if I know all of them. To name some of them: Jazz Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Fringe, Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Islam Festival, and International Book Festival.

On 3 August, 2008, there was the Scottish Sun Edinburgh Festival Cavalcade. More than 80 teams performed in the parade and the Taiwanese Students' Society was one of them! It's the first time that Taiwanese students' society participated in it. I am very glad that we did it. It took few weeks to plan and to practice during the period when everyone is striving for dissertation. Clothes and decorations are hand-maded. It's really amazing that we made it!

Many people helped us. Local Taiwanese provide food and water for our rehearsal. People from different cities came to Edinburgh to participate in the parade. The mayor of Kaohsiung city, 陳菊, visited here and offered us a wonderful meal after the parade.

It's really a cool experience and I LOVE TAIWAN!!
